Beautiful Beaches in Dorset

Published: Monday 5th Aug 2019

So many beaches along our coastline are diverse, from golden fine sands to rocks, pebbles and fossils you are spoilt for choice!

Traditional beaches with activities for families are plentiful – try Studland, Swanage, Lulworth and Weymouth for safe family-friendly days. Little cafes and ice cream shops make it easy to spend the day enjoying the fine sunny weather – just pack sun cream!

If you like a peaceful day and are happy to take all the items with you for a chilled day out, try Eype at Bridport, Seatown near Lyme Regis or Burton Bradstock. All have shingle and are secluded retreats from the crowds; if you enjoy walking, they are easily reached from the South West Coast Path.

If you are into searching for fossils and exploring rock pools, try Charmouth beach, Durdle Door or Kimmeridge Bay. With every step, there is something to discover, and children will love uncovering treasures beneath each coloured stone or pool.
